Stillwater installs cameras, license-plate readers to deter crime

Seven cameras that scan and record the license plates of every passing conveyance have been installed this year at intersections in Stillwater and more are coming Stillwater Police Chief Brian Mueller reported another Flock Safety automatic license-plate readers are expected to be installed throughout the city by the end of the year A Flock Safety license-plate reader which helps police track readers are meant to act as a deterrent to anyone considering committing a crime in the city Mueller noted the readers will not be used for speed-limit enforcement In addition fixed surveillance
